Last year the Connells Group, which employs over 4,600 staff, sold in excess of £8 billion worth of property and arranged mortgage loans totalling around £2.6 billion, helping thousands of customers to buy a home of their own.

During 2004, Connells approached AVCO looking for a solution to allow them to submit files from their in-house payroll system to the Inland Revenue to comply with the mandatory e-filing requirements set out for 2005. AVCO proposed a bespoke converter program to take a file from their in-house payroll system and output a GFF file format that met the strict e-filing requirements.

Working together, Connells programmed their system to create files to AVCO's defined format whilst AVCO wrote the converter to adapt the file and output the GFF equivalent file. Connells then used AVCO's standard Payroll EDI e-filing product to submit the files to the Inland Revenue.

"We were very impressed with the service offered by AVCO who identified our needs and worked alongside our own IT department to ensure that Connells met the mandatory e-filing deadline," said Group IT Director Anthony Glasgow.
