Case Study: WJEC

WJEC needed a web "portal" as a front-end to communicate with their exam centres no matter their physical location. As part of this, they had a requirement for the exchange of examination entry data, and respective results, between themselves and the centres, in a secure environment. The system provides a one-to-many distribution system with a time-lock function to prevent early, unauthorised release of one of these files to its recipients.

The system was designed to display the "state-of-play" of their entries for that exam in a user friendly webpage format. This information is collated from a database onto the local SQL Server, which is updated every 24 hours from their central AS/400 to reflect record changes. The system offers a secure web-based method for distributing examination papers from WJEC to specified examination centres when the need arises.
